Adam and Eve

Adam אָדָם and Eve חַוָּה – the first people, created by God on the Sixth Day (see Bereshit 1-5). Adam, both the individual and the collective concept of mankind, was created “in God’s image” from the dust of the earth, and given to care for the world. Eve (Hava) was created from Adam’s rib – “bones of my bones, flesh of my flesh” – and was mother to the human race.
