אלכסנדר ינאי, also called Alexander Jannaeus or King Yannai. The son of John of Hyrcanus, Alexander became King of Judea in 103 BCE at the death of his brother, Aristobulus. As a high priest, he defied Jewish law by marrying his sister-in-law, Salome Alexandra. She ruled as regent after King Yannai died in 76 BCE.
