Rabbi Bezalel Ashkenazi

Rabbi Bezalel Ashkenazi, 16th century German Talmudist at Jerusalem. His seminal work, the Shiṭṭa Meḳubbeẓet, “Gathered Interpretation”, is still considered an authoritative source on the Tosafot.

The Shiṭṭa is a collection of emendations and short comments on the Gemara, of which only a handful of Massekhet and Seder Kodashim was completed.  These emendations are based on many manuscripts and on the commentaries of the Rishonim, particularly those of Nahmanides.
