כֹּהֵן “Priest” – plural, כֹּהֲנִים Kohanim. Both a senior member of the tribe of Levi and a descendant of Aaron. When the Temple stood, the Kohanim were in charge of holy worship, sacrifices, rituals and other communal ceremonial functions.
The word Kohen is often used as a collective term for the Jewish nation. See Levite.
