Shmu’el

שְׁמוּאֵל – “God Has Heard”, also called Samuel – Prophet, son of Hannah and Elkana, last of the Judges. Anointed the first King of Israel, Shaul, and the Eternal King of Israel, David. The biblical chronicle his deeds and life were originally one book – ספר שמואל Sefer Shmu’el – but in keeping with the convention of the Septuagint it is divided into I Samuel and II Samuel (also 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel) in modern iterations.
