shevi’it

שביעית – shevi’it, literally, “seventh”. Produce harvested in a shemita year. This produce can only be consumed or used for one’s own enjoyment or sustenance. It is prohibited to buy, sell or dispose of shevi’it. It must be consumed in its “best” way, and must not be stored longer than its growing season outdoors. Those items that have been stored past their growing season must be purged by biur.
