Teruma

תְּרוּמָה – “lift up”, a harvest heave-offering. Torah commands Jews in the land of Israel to gift to the kohanim a portion of the “first fruits” of a harvest. established a measure: 1/40 for a generous gift, 1/50 for an average gift, and 1/60 for a miserly gift. Teruma is considered sacred and may only be eaten by kohanim and their households while they are in a state of ritual purity.
