Tzom Gedalia

צוֹם גְּדַלְיָּה – The fast of Gedalia, on the 3rd day of Tishrei (תִּשְׁרִי), which is the 7th month of the ecclesiastical calendar. Gedalia ben Aikam, was a governor of Judah during the time of King Nebuchadnezzar. He was assassinated, and in fear of repercussions from the King, there followed a period of peril for Jews in Babylonia. These events are chronicled in Yeremeya.
